For You Part 3: The Church
Message Summary: Why is going to church worth our time? We are ambassadors of Christ. There are action words all around who we are created to be in Christ. It doesn’t mean we have to do in order to be loved by God or to be closer to God. God’s love is for you. His favor is for you. His grace is for you. You do, though, have to put a little effort in being a good humand and trying to be more like Jesus.
Our flesh naturally drifts away from being Christ-like in our walk, so we have to be intentional about “recalibrating” our souls to remind ourselves what God says about us. Everything we do for 1 hour on a Sunday is supposed to help us become the new creation and living that new life the Bible talks about.
Church is good for you because it helps recalibrate your soul. Attending church doesn’t change the world, but it can change you, which can change the world around you.

Colossians 3:12-17 NIV – Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
