Each month, we want to share with you resources that are making a difference in the lives of our leaders. Whether a book, song, podcast, or video, we want to pass along the things that are speaking to us right now. You can go to each resource simply by clicking on the title of it. We hope these are helpful for you in your journey of Following Jesus, Finding Freedom, Having Someone to Know, and Something to Do.

Goodness of God – Bethel Music

One of my favorite things to do at the beginning of the year is to take some time to look back at the previous year. Some years have more good than bad and some the opposite. But it never fails that I always have the thought, “Wow, that actually happened last year?” And no matter if those experiences were marked with sorrow or joy, the goodness and faithfulness of God shines through. Because at the most, I see He came through, and at the least, I made it through and I get another chance.  So as we enter into another year, I want the posture of my heart to remember the goodness of God in my life. And singing this song helps me do that.

She’s Got Gumption – Wendy J. Olson

I listen to a podcast called, “She’s Got Gumption” by Wendy J Olsen, where they share “stories” (which I love), stories of struggles, that are messy, that necessary don’t have a happy ending but they do all share one thing, they all have JESUS. They call them Jesus stories and that’s what Wendy speaks about prior to her delivery of her podcast each episode. These are not neat and tidy, tide up in a bow stories, these are real life, raw life these are YOUR story.

Ron Tivis – Book

God and Money by John Cortines and Gregory Baumer

The concept of the book is about investigating our relationship with money and how the Bible speaks to generosity.

Hallelujah Here Below – Elevation Worship

This month, I have been listening to the new Elevation Worship Album, Hallelujah Here Below, on repeat. There are two songs that have been especially impactful to me. The first is Here Again. For years, I have struggled with a desire to be self-reliant. I want to be strong enough to handle anything that life throws my way. But, true freedom is found in reliance on the Lord and His power at work within me. There’s a lyric that says, “I’m not enough unless you come, Will you meet me here again.” That has been my prayer each morning as my feet hit the floor. The other song that I love is God of the Promise. That song feels like an anthem over Cross Timbers, especially in 2019 with our emphasis on encouraging and equipping Difference Makers. God gave Cross Timbers a promise of 10,000 and nothing can stand against that promise!
