WWJD Part 3
Message Summary: Today, there were stories shared of how people used the $20 in the community. A common theme was how giving to others was a blessing for those who gave. It truly is better to give than to receive. Scripture tells us helping others pleases God, it’s not about being religious.
All we do should glorify God, not bring praise to us. If it’s about bringing praise to us, we should hide it. We may be the only Jesus that some people see. We are representatives of Christ everywhere we go, in all we do. We need to love others as Christ has loved us, pointing others back to Jesus, living as the hands and feet of Jesus.
Be encouraged to make generosity a lifestyle, not just a one-week thing. Let us love the people in our circles of influence and be a light in a dark world.
1. Which scripture from this week speaks to your heart? Why? How can you apply it this week?
2. Where are you struggling with feeling tired? How can you turn to God for strength and endurance in this area so you can reap a harvest and be blessed?
3. How can you be a light to those in your circle of influence?
Proverbs 19:17 NIV – Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.
Hebrews 13:16 NIV – And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Hebrews 13:16 MSG – Make sure you don’t take things for granted and go slack in working for the common good; share what you have with others. God takes particular pleasure in acts of worship—a different kind of “sacrifice”—that take place in kitchen and workplace and on the streets.
John 14:15 NIV – If you love me, keep my commands.
John 15:12-15 NIV – My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
Matthew 5:14-16 – You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Galatians 6:9 NIV – Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Proverbs 11:25 – A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
