Believe Part 4
Message Summary: Jesus promises that we will have trouble. He also promises peace and reminds us that He has overcome the world.
Three things to remember before trouble comes: 1. There is a plan. 2. There is a point. 3. There is enough.
That’s good news. Before we have trouble, we must decide God is good and is working all things together for good. We don’t have to like it or understand it, but we can continually cast our cares on Him. He is in control and is doing something through this pain.
- How can you build a foundation of truth so when troubles come, you still believe God is good?
- In what ways have you allowed past troubles to define or shape your view of God?
- In what areas do you need to let go of control and trust God to work all things for good?
- Can you recall a time in your life where God used your pain for a purpose?
- Read Psalm 51:10-12 and Galatians 6:9 and discuss how you can apply these verses to your life in times of trouble.
John 16:33 – “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Romans 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Genesis 3:4 – “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

2 Corinthians 12:7-9 – …I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
