Happy Mother’s Day 2023
Message: God uses mothers to display His characteristics of being gracious, slow to anger, faithful and most of all His compassion. In the 10 Commandments, God states for us to honor our mothers. In Hebrew the word “honor” relates to carrying a heavy weight. We honor our mothers by recognizing the heavy weight they carry. Mothers carry invisible, emotional, and mental love that we don’t see. Moms fill the gaps in our lives when everybody else forgets or falls short. At times, our mothers feel insecure, inferior, or inadequate in trying to fill these gaps, but Jesus fills those gaps. Just like Moses’ mom, mothers see the specialness in their children. When we’re feeling like we’re not enough, God says, “I AM.” Whenever we fall short, God is sufficient enough to fill in that gap.
Whatever you are not, God is!
Start seeing your shortcomings as opportunities for God to show you His grace. Grace is a free gift from God. Embrace this gift as He is making you into something stronger and more beautiful. Motherly love, compassion, and mercy shows us how to be Christ-like to others. Showing Christ starts in our homes, then helps us learn how to fill the gaps in the lives of others.
- What ways do you honor your mother?
- How can you help fill in the gaps in the lives of others?
- What are you not enough of that God says, “I AM.”
Exodus 3:11 (NIV): Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
Exodus 3:14 (NIV): And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM” and He said, “You will say this to the children of Israel, “I AM has sent me to you.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV): But He(Jesus) said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV): God is able to make all grace abound toward you, so that you, always having enough of everything, may abound to every good work.
