Watch List: Elemental
Message Summary: The movie clip showed two characters immigrating into Elemental city. They were clearly outcasts and looking for a new life, a new future. They came from hard times, persecution, and rejection, but perseverance took them into a NEW LIFE. They endured to give their daughter a NEW LIFE. The same is true of Jesus Christ for us; he endured rejection, criticism, persecution, torture, abuse, and crucifixion so we could experience a better future. Jesus went through a lot so we could experience NEW LIFE.
We need to remember and understand daily that Jesus chose us and we are valuable to him. Remembering our value and seeing ourselves from God’s perspective will have huge implications on our daily lives. We need to speak this into our families, our children and break the generational cycle of feeling unworthy. If we struggle with insecurity and fear, at the root, it shows we don’t believe we are as valuable as God says we are. Be free from the strongholds! We are chosen; in Christ, we are a new creation!
We need to be who God created us to be; don’t put so much pressure on yourself – lean into your gifts and strengths! Look at your situations though God’s eyes, look for him at work in your life and those around you and speak up when you see him working.
1. What situations are you facing that need to be viewed from a different vantage point?
2. How can you see God at work in your circumstances?
3. How can you encourage others that are facing hard times and change their perspective to see God at work?
4. How can you see the gifts God has given you and just be who God created you to be?
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Romans 5:6-8 NIV – You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
1 Peter 2:9 NIV – But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Psalm 139:13-14 NIV – For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Isaiah 43:4 NIV – Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.
Genesis 1:27 NIV – So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
2 Corinthians 5:17 MSG – Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life emerges!
Colossians 3:1-4 NIV – Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
