What’s the Point? Part 4
Message Summary: People need a shepherd, a leader, a guide as they walk through this life. The church is a community of Jesus followers sharing Jesus as their good Shepherd and Jesus as their hope. Sheep hear their shepherd’s voice and as the body of Christ, we should only be spending our time and attention listening to Jesus’ voice, which is the word of God in the Bible. God always provides, protects, and pursues His sheep.
To meet the spiritual needs of others, a healthy community of Jesus followers will invite others into their group to rejoice and comfort them. Small groups are a flock of Jesus followers to surround you and rejoice with you in good and hard times.
Cross Timbers Church Vision: A community of Jesus followers committed to sharing hope both locally and around the world.
Cross Timbers Church Mission: Meeting emotional, practical, and spiritual needs in the name of Jesus.
- Who is your Shepherd?
- Who are you giving your time, attention and listening to?
- How do you play a part in people’s spiritual growth?
- What are the benefits of belonging to a church small group?
Psalm 23:1-6 – The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Luke 15:3-4 – Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep, until he finds it?”
