Speaker:
John the Baptist heard about the deeds of Jesus and sent his disciples to ask about Jesus. He was discouraged about the stuff he heard about Jesus, and Jesus began to speak about John the Baptist. He calls John the Baptist a prophet, and there is no one greater than him.
How can you get your sight back?
This can help anyone when unbelief is crowding your sight.
1. Don’t allow your prison to rob you of your perspective.
Prison caused John to lose sight of Jesus.
Don’t allow the problems of your life to rob you of your perspective.
You can be locked up and free.
2. Get to Jesus with people who know how to get to Him.
John’s entire conversation with Jesus was through his disciples.
The right relationships are inconvenient in the short term, but convenient in the long term.
Get people to surround yourself with who will get you to Jesus.
3. Look around for the evidence of God at work that is right in front of you.
Jesus pointed John the Baptist back to the facts of what God is doing in his life.
Gratitude should be a daily practice.
So when that prison is shrinking your life, you have many strategies and evidence to show God’s work in your life.
God is going to take care of you. Some seasons are pruning, but it’s easier to see the evidence
4. The Holy Spirit helps us Endure hard times.
In an instant gratification culture, we have lost the ability to endure.
The Holy Spirit does that for us.
John 14:26-27
Accepting Jesus as your personal savior is not just being given the gift of Heaven, but the gift to walk every day with the Holy Spirit.
1. How is your perspective right now in your life? Can you see how God is alive in your life right now? Or are you being robbed of your perspective?
2. Do you have people to help get you to Jesus when you can’t? What are some practical ways others can help get us to Jesus?
3. How often do you practice gratitude? What are some ways you can practice gratitude this week?
4. What are all the ways God has worked in your life?
5. Do you have the gift of the Holy Spirit? Do you know Jesus as the Lord of your life? Have you surrendered everything to Him?
